When making pancakes, is it alright to substitute baking powder with baking soda?

Yes, baking powder's primary ingredient is baking soda. Its just baking soda mixed with an acid to make it work at room temp. ('double acting') so you could just use the same amount or just a tiny bit less and an equal part lemon juice or cream of tartar (no need to add an acid if your using buttermilk in your batter,)you'll be fine. When making pancakes, is it alright to substitute baking powder with baking soda?

The correct substitute for 1 Teaspoon of Baking Powder is: 1/3 Tsp Baking SODA %26amp; 1/2 Tsp Cream of Tarter
No don't even try it. The baking soda is used in the pancakes for an extra fluffy taste if you use baking soda all that will happen is the pancakes won't be fluffy and it will taste gross!!! Trust me I have tried this before!
