Can someone find me the worlds hottest chilli powder?

The Naga Jolokia is the hottest. You won't find powder made from it, but it's easy to do yourself - buy some (try the link below), cut them into pieces (wearing latex gloves is recommended!), put them onto a tray and either dry on a sunny windowsill or in the oven at it's lowest setting (50C/100F if possible). Then grind in a food mill, or coffee grinder.

I've made some and it really is fearsomely hot but it does have an excellent taste - you put so little in that you can count the grains.

If you live somewhere with good Indian grocer shops, they may import them - Taj stores in Brick Lane used to.

There's also a curry paste made from them, it's called Mr. Naga. Again you need a good Indian grocers. It's a diluted paste, with oil and spices, but is still very very hot. I open mine to let the air in and leave it for at least 6 months in a cupboard to let some the the heat disappear.

You can buy naga chillis at

If you want to grow your own (and it's the easiest thing to do), just plant a couple of the chillis in some compost in a pot, water regularly and you'll get a nice crop. You don't even need to separate the seeds, but if you are going to make your own powder, just remove a load of seeds when you cut the chillis up and plant them.

If you get some I would also recommend a good toilet paper with Aloe Vera, kept in the fridge overnight. Can someone find me the worlds hottest chilli powder?
