What are some natural ways to control fleas? I've heard of garlic powder, but does it really work?

I have a natural cures for pests book and it says:

If you add a small amountof brewers yeast, apple cider vinegar OR crushed garlic to their food it will keep fleas away. Get a vitamin B supplement fromyour vet and it will get rid of them. fleas hate sage - rub some into your dogs coat and leave on for 15-20 minutes then vacuum off, make sure to empty your bag outside immediately after. A cup or two of peppermint tea added to your dogs bathwater will also eliminate them. Hope these give you a start. Good luck. What are some natural ways to control fleas? ***NO***!!!!!!!!!

OF COURSE NOT!!!

Don't be THICK!

*WHY* would people spend BILLIONS %26amp; DECADES on INSECTICIDE research if all you need to do is give F-ing garlic???

***WISE UP***!!!What are some natural ways to control fleas? I've heard of garlic powder, but does it really work?
Maybe you should bathe more often... you dirty girl you
No, I've never heard of that, I do know that there is stuff you can buy from the drugstore that would do it though, so call you drugstore, and I'm sure they could give you the name of it!!! I forgot, But I do know it works wonders!! GOOD LUCK!
There are none. Get a vet approved flea preventative and use it monthly. Do not purchase anything over the counter or on the internet. you will be wasting your money
Fleas do not smell.
regular swim in the ocean, or using a flea comb atleast four times a day very thouroghly and making sure dogs bedding is machine washed every day.
Add Eucalyptus oil to their bath water.

Use garlic in the food
I use apple cider vinegar in my dogs' drinking water (about 2-3 Tbsp to a gallon of water) and, though we live out in the country, they don't have fleas. For fleas that are ON your dog, get a couple of lemons, roll them as you would for juicing them, slice in half length-wise, take your dog outside and rub the lemon half/halves all over your dog. This will remove the fleas that are on him/her, then bathe your dog with a flea shampoo.

Treat your yard about 3 times, 7-10 days apart to kill the flea cycle.

I don't use anything on my dogs other than a good flea shampoo that i purchase from my vet. I mix 2 gallons of the apple cider vinegar water each day so that i have enough fresh water to refill their bowls with during the day and all of my dogs are flea free.

You can add a ***small*** amount of powdered garlic to their food, but do listen to what the other responder said about the side effects that too much garlic can have. It's true, too, that you can add de-natured brewer's yeast to their food, but some dogs can have a reaction to it.
Eucalyptus oil
try a mixture of garlic and brewer's yeast. this does work and some retail stores sell it or you can mix your own and add it to their feed.
Garlic has limited ability to control fleas and you have to be careful. As it is realted to onion and if you give too much for to long your dog can devlope Heinz Body Anemia and it can be fatal.

It causes the rd blood cells to die off to fast and your pet is not able to carry oxygen to its tissues and can die.

Get something from your vet to use to control fleas.

It will work much better and be safer in the long run.
Some say feed them (dogs or cats, not fleas) brewers' yeast. Some have had good luck with diatomaceous earth (DE) sprinkled on their bedding.
If you have a flea infestation your gonna have to kill the fleas in the yard and in the home before you can really control them on the dog. Fleas dont like garlic, the dog would have to eat it, I personally wouldnt give the dog garlic..talk about nasty dog breath. www.1800petmeds.com has some stuff that you can use for the home and yard, such as foggers or carpet spray. Once you have taken care of the fleas in the yard and in the carpets you can try Advantage for dogs, you can get it at your vets office or order from the link above. It works VERY well and would recommend it to anyone.
