How do you get fingerprint powder out of carpet?

my house got robbed and forensics got fingerprint powder on my newly laid carpet and freshly painted walls. warm soapy water doesn't work very well. how do i get it out?How do you get fingerprint powder out of carpet?
((First off, robbery usually coincides with physical violence so it's very possible that they printed the location for a suspect. ))

As for the powder, unfortunately, there's not much you'll be able to do to get it out. Fingerprint powder is aluminum based because of it's high-binding power, so adversely, it's really hard to remove. In the carpet, you may want to try some plain shaving cream, let it sit for a few minutes (don't let it dry!) and wipe it up, blotting at the area after you've wiped away the foam. The walls are a little more tricky... try vaseline. If that doesn't work, you might have to repaint.

Sorry! Hope this helps. How do you get fingerprint powder out of carpet?
Forensics would not be in your home for a robbery.... good story though!
